Don’t go to a bait store with a credit card or wad of bills. Otherwise, you will have too much someday. Just happens. The more space you have the more stuff. I have plenty, but if it’s hanging there like candy in a grocery checkout I might give it a try.

RJS I’ve spent many hours in a tree stand reading but don’t anymore. I got caught with my pants down. I looked and up and theres this really big buck less than 10 yards from me. Now that will definitely jump start the old ticker. I’m thinking oh shit I got to get my bow but he’s looking my way, where in the hell did he come from! I don’t dare move or I’m busted. By the time I get my bow in hand I don’t have a shot!

Like Larry potterfield from midway USA When his wife asks how many of whatever he responds how many of this or that does a woman need. Being a smart man he waits till she walks away. 🎣🎣. Who out there doesn't have too much of something. Be it clothes books cars electronics

Having too much fishing gear is a fetish and is a waste of resources. I dont mean just having a backup rod and reel, or tackle but a truck load. You would be much better served to be more conservative and use those resources to hire a guide when you fish new waters. I am not saying fishermen should not have a collector mentality, but it is often a waste of their resources. But to each his own. Just Sayin...RJS

Dang RJ all this time i thought it was a. obsession. Figured a fetish required whips chains leather n some kinky toys. 😂😂 Have a good day 👍👍

I do the same thing, I hot glue whatever is in it to the cap and stand them upright.

Hey There,

I would say that if you use every piece of gear each season or have it rigged up ready to go on another pole just in case you need to change your game plan then I would say THAT is enough gear. Go through your stuff and get rid of those old lures and rusty hooks and melting plastic baits. As for poles and reels if you haven't used them in two seasons go to the tackle store and trade them in for credit or something you know you need. Another yardstick might be can, you get everything to the boat from your car in one trip?

Hope you enjoy your next trip out!

I have a good angling friend whose mentor told him that if you know how many rods you have you don’t have enough. As long as it’s cheaper than a psychiatrist I figure I’m ahead of the game. My wife would rather me buy or build rods that go to bars and chase other women. We’re close to our 50th anniversary!!!

Core that's my thinking on it. I don't drink smoke bowl shoot pool or any of that stuff now. I wised up n figured if i had money to spend on stuff that would ruin my health get me in trouble with the law. I couldn't go back the nx night smoke same cigarette or drink the same beer i was just wasting money. I could have 100 combos n still be money ahead. I can get everything in my boat. Be a bit crowded 😀

Our toys need us but we really need them. What’s the old saying, “The only difference between men and boys is the size and expense/complexity/name your favorite word of their toys.” So true. Our big storage unit at our family farm was named by my wife when it was built- it’s the Toy Box. Thank goodness for great toys and the luxury of being able to enjoy them. We should be very grateful for being in this position that is not possible for too many folks in our world.
