I have more than what I need for the amount of fishing I do.
I used to take more than I needed on fishing trips, still do but less than before. You need to decide what you need and what you want, what you could carry and what you want to carry.
All your decisions.

No, you can never have too much fishing gear. But you have to understand the difference between the hobby of fishing and the hobby of collecting fishing gear. I have both.

It's called being well prepared for any situation! Lol!

Having too much fishing gear is a fetish and is a waste of resources. I dont mean just having a backup rod and reel, or tackle but a truck load. You would be much better served to be more conservative and use those resources to hire a guide when you fish new waters. I am not saying fishermen should not have a collector mentality, but it is often a waste of their resources. But to each his own. Just Sayin...RJS

How much gear is enough? How much gear is too much?
...Depends on whether you're asking another fisherman, or if you're asking your Wife!

According to my wife , I passed that threshold a few years back
I really do have too much stuff .
However I always seem to find something new I just can’t do without

So true--it's a good thing Tackle Warehouse doesn't extend a line of credit (yet). It's bad enough that I already have a BPS card.

Nope you can never have enough fishing gear or hunting gear. Grizz is right, I’ve got 3 grandsons to pass my stuff down to. I bought a new rod n reel not to long age and my wife said “I guess you must’ve needed more stuff to give to them grandsons, huh”.

Hi Rut. I told the oldest grandson he'd better be glad i get good stuff because him n Clay would split it one day. If i do it right they'll each have enough to last them till they are my age 😂😂. Gota luv the grandkids n leave them something brother 👍👍🎣🎣

Yup I have maybe a little to much gear, last time my wife counted I have 27 rods and reels and she looked at me and said you only have two hands! But I have 6 grandsons to pass my stuff too!

Now if you deer hunters were ambidextrous, you could be knitting a sweater while waiting for the buck with big antlers to appear! Just sayin...RJS

This is a good question for Ben Bragg, the man has so much gear he's run out of room to fish out of his boat

Yea , it’s not so much a boat , it’s more a big floating tackle box.
