Just caught 4 at Clear Lake casually fishing yesterday.

2 off of a Watermelon Red Texas Rigged Baby Brush Hogs

1 off of a X-Rap Shad Rap

1 off of a Watermelon Gold Texas Rigged Baby Brush Hog

Typically Jerkbaits are also good

You’re awesome. Thanks for letting me know, my boss who lives in Petaluma usually fishes there with his kayak on the daily. All the bank fishing spots there are overfished I feel like. I would love to get a kayak out there.

Thanks man!

I typically like fishing rip-rap and any sections of tules that look odd and fishy. Also you really can’t go wrong with fishing docks. Bigger or the most run down the dock the better.

Good Luck! 🍀

Late fall I always go to spinnerbaits, deadly.

I’ve been hearing this non-stop. I’m going to invest into some, most likely going to look up videos of good spinners.

Best fall baits for NorCal, in no particular order

Square bill crankbaits

Smaller swimbaits, think keitech size, matching the hatch.

Chatterbaits, vibrating jigs are always good this time of year.

Jigs...always

Soft plastic, senkos and dropshot are always good if the bite is tough

If the water temp is still 65 or higher, top water, I’d recommend wake baits.

Good Luck!

Is there a device out there that lets you measure the water temperature so you know what to fish with?

I've been catching bass on senko worms - green pumpkin/blkflake - and twist tailed grubs. Haven't been using the craws as much, though mainly because of where I'm fishing these days. I've noticed that the bass seem to be more eager for swim baits, like they're stocking up on bigger bites for the winter, but might be my imagination. I use billed and non-billed hardbaits and all sorts of soft plastics. Not so much top waters though a fast retrieve keeps the swimmie near the surface.

I'm in Mass west of Boston, so not sure if it applies.

Hey here's what your looking for slugger! The perfect bait for bass in your aera, I guarentee it! Bass there can't get enough, you may want to pick up more than just one. I don't know what makes this bait work so well, but you be the judge. When a buddy told me about it he went on and on until I went down and bought one. We hit lake Isabela and we tore'em up!! Two days later we hit Clear lake and were told that nothing was biteing, but we proved them wrong again, you have to get this lure. It's Rapala's "Clackin Crank"

To measure water temperatures....I suggest one of the manual/non-digital swimming pool thermometers. Specifically the ones that can float OR sink...by removing the weighted (down) cap. Tie a thin nylon string to it and use a Sharpie Pen to make depth marks on the string. Under 10$ at pool supply stores. You might find one in the pool section of your local Wall-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes , etc. They are rugged and last years and years sitting in chlorinated pool water.
