Western Oregon? Baker City is NOT Western and there is nothing in western oregon that is close to Baker City.
If you want a lake etc there are some like Wallowa
Sorry just moved here. I thought the snake river was close. If I am wrong on that. Sorry again

The Snake River IS close, depending on what you consider close, and there are lots of fishing opportunities around Baker. You can be to the Snake River in an hour through Richland. Lots of good fishing on the Snake and you can use your resident license in a boat or if you fish from the Oregon side of the river. There’s some killer big chanel cats in the Snake south of you if your into catfishing. 15/20 pounders are not uncommon west of Weiser Idaho on the Snake. Last time I came home from Rufus Oregon it took me about an hour and a half from Baker to get to the big cats. Lots of big bass, crappie and trout in Brownlee reservoir too and that’s not far from you. Good luck and post some pictures. 👍 Before I’m corrected here Brownlee is part of the Snake River. Below Brownlee is Oxbow reservoir on the Snake and below that is Hells Canyon reservoir. All excellent fishing most of the year. Especially for record numbers of small mouth bass. I’ve fished it a lot and it’s common to catch 100 bass in a couple hours.
I believe Brownlee is the Snake damned up. Wish I lived closer to it!

Pilcher Creek Reservoir, Thief Valley Reservoir, Unity Reservoir, Phillips Reservoir are all easy trout fishing spots
As stated before the Snake has some awesome opportunities, Brownlee being the best bet
You can catch some nice rainbows in the Powder river running through town even!
If you have anymore questions, feel free to message me, I live in Baker City also and would love to help you out!

You are correct Don. Same with Roosevelt lake in Washington. It’s the Columbia River dammed up.
Baker City Oregon is not in the WEST? Whoulda thunk. 😂

It won’t be long and you’ll hear of lots of good places to fish around you. Good luck and remember to post some pictures. Lots of us fish and don’t catch anything. We, also, catch small fish and post them. Don’t be afraid to post a picture of anything you encounter out there. We enjoy them all. 😉
