Disrespectful to people bank fishing?

The past three weekends I've been out bank fishing in the same spot. I've also encountered a few trolling boats that seem to get a little too close to me. Close enough that I'm uncomfortable casting as it would be really close to their boat.

I guess this is just more of a rant but I wish that these guys in the bass boats would keep their distance from me. Instead I watch them cast in to the same area I'm fishing like 30 feet from me on their way through.

For context: I fish on a sandbar so I'm not really on the bank. I'm quite a few feet out into the water. There are no trees around me so I'm clearly visible from a good distance.

Looks like a case of folks not practicing good etiquette on the water. If I encounter an area where a fisherperson is already working the water, I reel in my gear and pass widely, and with stealth, regardless of whether or not I am in a boat, kayak or other sort of vessel.

If I am floating a river or stream, and come upon somebody that is wading or bank fishing, I once again bring in my gear, float until I am out of sight, and then resume fishing.

I'd rather do that then be in a position of "showing off" and in a sense, inaudibly say "Wow...look what I caught that you did not!" "Did everybody see me!"

It does not take very much effort to just pause for a moment and think about the other person, who is simply out trying to enjoy the sport like you!

That’s the problem with a lot of people these days is not having any respect for others 😡 just last week I my Cusin and a friend were surf fishing on a beach we were next to a hill and casting and fishing close to the rocks in the water there was a small group of surfers about 200 yards out and maybe 150 yards to our right away from the rocks we had been fishing for about 2 hours and this new person comes down the beach and decided to go in the water like 10 yards from me and starts paddling in a angle right over my line when I yelled at him he gives me attitude and tells me he lives there instead of apologizing I get BS and attitude I on the other hand gave him a taste of his own medicine I reeled in my line and casted right at him When my sinker hit less than a foot from him he got the message and moved

Fishing from the bank at Table Rock pleasure boaters had the whole lake to play in but constantly came within 100 feet of me. Wave runners seemed to think it was fun to do doilies out in front of me sending 2 foot waves to the bank

Today people think "I have my rights, F you, I'll do what I want". And I Have the right to throw a six hook musky lure at your head, but I'm not an A--hole like you.

When I started fishing, I got 25# line on my reel. Had cast out as far as I could. Boat came by trolling, my rod tip started moving, I thought I had a bite and I tried to set the hook. Almost pulled a guy off the boat. When they came by again they stayed away from where I was fishing.

You encounter the same kind of people on piers n on the water. I've been fishing dock already n someone sees me make a good catch they'll motor passed me n pull in on the nx dock. I was fishing in a no wake cove. Saw a boat enter from main lake as he approached he opened it up n passed within 15'. He didn't want people in his cove. It was a state park n a public lake. Those that owed or rented property there felt state should close lake to general public.😒😒

You could do what I did cast across their lines and foul them up, that makes them made but makes a good point, or what I did when a couple of guys kept doing that over and over. I tied on a 1/2 ounce Kastmaster and placed it right in the middle of their boat, popped it out and told them the next one was going to be at their head!

Over the past few encounters fishing for a boat or a bank, people just don't care or don't know (haven't been taught). Either way, people are just rude now-a-days. Older people or getting just as bad as they seem to learn from younger/ inexperience folks.

The nation is going to you know what in all aspects of life.

In surf fishing we can sometimes use fishing weights close to 2 to 4 or more ounces. These cast off a long rod can reach velocities and energy levels that could easily kill a person if hit in the head. Really think about the possible consequences of losing your cool. You could lose everything, including your freedom.
