Do snaps affect the presentation at all?

If so for which baits and to what degree? I honestly can’t stand retying every time I change lures, snaps are 1,000 times easier.

The only thing I’ve noticed is with crank baits it seems to throw the action a bit with the dual points of axis causing it to wobble from side to side a bit. Is it really necessary to tie direct?

Not to me. ; ) However others will say to tie them direct. Never noticed a difference with the fish.

On top water baits it gives the bait more freedom to do its thing I've never noticed a difference in the crankbaits I would think the snap would work the same for them. Even the small snaps have a lot of lb strength and if you like myself I like trying not tying a lot of different lures when I'm ou5 there until I find what they like

NO problem with snaps, use dura lock and they won't open up unexpectedly !

I’ll sometimes use small high strength premium quality snaps with crankbaits
The fast snaps are also pretty good.
I do tjis when switching baits to find optimim depth
If anything, they allow more freedom of action. in my opinion
Please don’t get confused. I’m talking small high quality snaps
Not snap swivels. I have no use for these in any fishing situation that I couldn’t satisfy with either a snap or a swivel. Never a Snap swivel.
Keep snaps small as possible.
This is usually only practical with high quality hardware.

I totally agree with the above comments. I've said before i use the small norman speed clips n some duro locks. SMALL ones never had a problem. Did as well as anyone i fished with that never wanted to change baits in a tournament. I'd pre rig tubes with different weight jig heads. Save line n time 👍👍

They work good. I just choose to tie knots cuz they’re free.

Catfish depends on how much line you cut off by the end of the day 😀. Line keeps getting more expensive every day. 👍👍

bill, tying knots is part of fishin, and when you lose a big bass (as I did) because the snap straightened out, I learned a very important lesson. when I returned to camp, I dumped all of my snaps in the trash and haven't used one since and don't ever intend to use another one. tight line
