Water shoes for surf fishing to withstand rays?
I live in SoCal and we have a terrible round ray problem. These little guys hang out close to shore and Im terrified I'm going to get stung one day. I fish from the surf alot. Im looking for a water shoe on Amazon or anywhere else really, to withstand rays. I don't have the room to store wading equipment so my only safe resort are water-shoes.

You wont find a shoe they cant sting through. Watched a guy on youtube get stung through his boot. Just gotta be really careful. Personally I dont wade fish in socal for this exact reason since I fish behind the long beach break wall and it is ray city.

Ray city exactly. I was at Belmont shore in front of the grissom island.... And my god. There were bat rays and round rays all around. Easily 5 feet away from me. I got freaked out and stopped fishing.
Surf fishing for Hali is so fun though. I want to buy something to help. But I guess Im not protected from anything :(

It's like this in jersey too. I shuffle my feet and hope..... mainly I get attacked by horny horseshoe crabs.

I don't know from personal experience, but i have heard that shuffling your feet will get them moving away from you, but stepping on them will get you stung.
I’ve been surf fishing (and surfing )in So Cal for over 30 years and have been stung once. As far as surf fishing goes... I fish barefoot. There’s no need to go in the water more than ankle deep. What most people don’t know is that the fish they are targeting ( perch, halibut, striped bass, corbina ) are literally 20-40’ from shore and more often than not, closer, chasing baitfish. You don’t have to be waist to chest deep in the water to cast! The fish are in closer than you think!🎣
Also, i have , for over the last 5 years, been using one lure and one lure only... Lucky Craft Pointer 115. Sardine, smelt, anchovy patterns are all you need. 110’s work good too. Another quick tip; fish light! 10lb test max, 2500-3000 spinning reel. 8-9’med to med/heavy spinning rod with a very fast tip. 🎣
Gotta ask about Lucky Craft? Hows it run in the water? Loss interest in old Bomber lure, they do not swim anymore. Just rock a little and not swim left to right anymore! Does Lucky Craft swim left and right or just rock some? When Bomber Lures changed packaging lures stopped swimming right too! Need another go to lure?
The Lucky Craft I’m talking about is the salt water version. The 115 has flatter sides therefore a tight shimmy. The 110 has more of a wobble. As far as the freshwater versions go, one the best jerkbaits on the market. Also, look into Megabass, and ole faithful Rapala Xrap.🎣
X-rap was next, great offshore but snook and even yellow tail jacks bend the hooks! Have to try a 110 on em, they want a big kicking wobble that swims like mullet! Bomber Long A`s just have not been the same after cardboard packaging went away!
I surf fish on the upper Texas Gulf Coast. We have Stingrays. Lots of them. I have fished in tennis shoes and barefoot. Lots of people fish barefoot. I would suggest as others have to shuffle your feet when walking. That’s what I’ve heard. Personally never had an issue. My son got stung once. He wears fly fishing wading boots. They are a heavy boot, which I don’t think a stingray could penetrate.
You can always change out the hooks! That said, the Lucky Craft comes with pretty stout hooks. I caught a 10-12lb snook in the surf down in Mexico a couple years ago. The hooks stayed true👍🎣
