Looking for replacement part for Shakespeare Ugly Stik 2 PCs. 7’ rod. Need to replace broken top part rod. Know of any company or warehouse that sells parts. Or am I forced to buy a new 7’ rod?

How did you break an ugly stick, run over it with a bulldozer?

I have half a 7' Ugly Stik but it is the butt end. No, I didn't break the tip. It went sailing into the surf on an attempted cast.

Just got back from a quick shopping trip at our local Costco to pick up some cashews. As I strolled around I could not help but notice a "made in China" Shakespere Ugly Stick 6'-6" medium weight rod/reel combo for $70 bucks. Even included some Trilene 8 lb line, Berkley rubber minnows and a few hooks. Kind of a starter set. Looked it over carefully and it looked to be a decent value. Who knows what the future holds these days as far as future availability.

Well, got to thinking about the grand kids, and figured, what the heck...might as well pick one up a few years ahead of time. The tricky part is going to be figuring out what to say when they ask "Hey papa...why can't we just use "your" rod"?

If you strike out on a replica replacement for your rod...maybe do something like this? Just an idea to ponder....

Why didn’t it come back when you reeled in? The mainline broke too?

The Mainline broke and the whole thing sailed out about 100 feet in ruff surf. I didn't even try to retrieve it except for a few casts with a bottom rig to try to snag it. It was a sad day tackle-wise but not worth risking my life. I guess the lesson learned is to check your two or three-part rod connections.

I see. Well maybe Shakespeare will send you the half you lost. I have several different Ugly sticks and had very good luck with them.

I am quite often checking the joints too.

I have one piece rods that can never do this as well.

Do you just need a new tip? If so, there are replacements available at Bass Pro, typically in a set of 3 (for about $4) with different diameters to fit the blank. The action of the rod will change a little, but with a few drops of epoxy you’ll be back in business.

Had that happen to a friend of mine also. Same thing. He cast out trying to get another guys rod and the top went flying, then the line broke. He bought a Penn rod that he loves.

Got the results from Shakespeare Rep. Cannot replace it. Only if you have receipt and photo of damaged rod and further instructions, also explain what happened etc. Then maybe replaced whole rod.... So I’m out of luck! Thanks everyone....
