So I bought a boat last year. I rewireded it this year and about two weeks later it sunk. No, I didn’t forget to put in the plug. I finally got it back on the water this week. I know know one cares but I’m so psyched to to get it back out there!

There is a large inflatable damn just up river from where it was docked. There was an issue with one of the bags and the river dropped 4 feet in two days. My boat was floating above a big rock, when the river dropped the front end went up back end went down. Water started coming over the back and my bilge pump couldn’t keep up.

Was this something that happen s while you were on it or while you had it moored and we’re away?

Sorry to hear that. Someone took my plug out while my boat was tied up and sank it once. They were nice enough to jam a stick where the plug goes though, so that was nice. When I showed up there was just a rope sticking out of the water. Fun day.

While it was moored. I was there to try and stop it from going down. I was obviously not successful. It’s ok now and already a pretty funny story.

That is terrible about your boat, I don’t understand why someone would do something like that.

It was moored on a calm stretch of river where a lot of unsavory types frequent. I’m guessing these redneck river pirates had observed this boat for weeks/months being there and knew there was no chance of immediate arrival from the owner, so they did their thing. I didn’t mention that a few weeks later they stole my motor. I think the sinking was a test before their big heist of my outboard. I had to stop keeping it there... and get a new motor. Bastards.

My first boat was a 32' Chris Craft w/twin Chrysler 360's (half a mile /gal) Anyway the saltwater cooling inlet pipe thread cracked and the previous owner sealed it with wire coated with grease. It worked long enough but not good enough. While I was away for a business trip the wires loosened and water came in. The bilge pumps lasted a good while and the Marina operator noticed the aft of the end of the boat was quite low. Water up to but not into the carburetors thankfully. He saved the boat by putting more pumps with fresh batteries on the pier and kept it afloat till I returned.

My first new boat was bought in 88 from Syracuse boat show. The day we picked it up from the dealer I asked if it had been water tested and such. Of course it was said the dealer. We towed it to Sylvan Beach, backed it in and had wife watch it while I parked car and trailer. When I got back to the dock, wife said she heard water going in boat. I checked ski storage and water was up to bottom of deck. Backed trailer back in and slowly winches boat back on. Had to wait until water drained out and then back to dealer. They ended up replacing all wood and carpeting!! Buttwads!

Sunk a boat once, while duck hunting. Slowed the boat to fast and was swooped by water. Went so fast it went to the bottom. All I could say was grab the guns, grab the guns. Luckily we were only in four feet of water but we were so wet we had to go home for dry clothes. Luckily we only lost one boat ore, which we recovered the following week.
