English is not my first langauge so kinda hard to phrase this question. But my braid is looking kinda worn and frizzy. Thinking about taking it off and spool it again so I get the fresh and unused line at the top. Anyone tried this successfully?

At $100 to spool a penn I’ve done it, spooling another reel from that reel

Hello Shutupandfish, I have checked on the internet and can't find a You-tube that shows how to reverse the fishing line and reuse the line....

OK here is how I have reversed my fishing lines in the past..

Step #1, Take the reel that has the line and complete un-spool it by hand.. Make sure that the line isn't tangled up..

Step #2, Now disconnect the line from the reel that you have taken the line off of and place it so that it doesn't become tangled...

Step#3, Now take the line from the pile that was the lead end from the reel and attach the frayed line into your spool and whined it up until you have got all of the line on the spool...

Step #4, You have completely reversed the line and are using the newest part of the fishing line..

Step#5, I strongly recommend to have another person assist you when doing the fishing line reversal , it's so much easier and much quicker... Good luck 🍀 with your new challenge... If you have any questions please feel free to "PM" me, Ron

Kayak Hacks Fishing:

How to reuse fishing line is pretty simple - just reverse fishing line to put the unused half of the spool at the front!

Putting fishing line on spinning reel with this fishing hack is quick and simple. In effect, a backup fishing reel

becomes a fishing line spooler - a winner in the cheap fishing challenge! Why not recycle fishing line to extend its

use to a second season? No brainer.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you didn’t have to buy more braided line, but instead made the line you already have last longer?

There’s an easy way to do that!

In this video, we're going to show you how to flip your braid so that it’s like new, and so that you can double its lifespan.

When you go fishing, you’re really only using a fraction of the line that’s on your reel.

The top half is getting beaten up and doing all the work, while the half closest to the spool is largely unused and like new.

And when the top half starts to get a little bit frayed, or even just faded in color, you might think that you need to get rid of it all and put on a new spool.

However, if you do that, you’re wasting all of the like-new braid that’s on the inside of the spool.

Watch this video to see how to make the most of your fishing line by flipping your braid.

I have no faith in my ability to take line off reel in loose pile and reverse it without tangle. Never that lucky. But if not just putting on another reel, the easiest way it will be reversed. I would probably do it in the boat holding the frayed end, letting the line feed off behind boat till reel empty , tie frayed end on spool and reel back on.

Think about it. If you have a local park or sports field anywhere around tie the used end of the line to a tree, goalposts or backstop and take a walk. Getting to the other end of your line. Cut it loose and retie to the used end of the line. Now you have the used end tied onto the reel just crank it onto the reel and you're set.

I think if I wanted to do it, this would be the way. What I do with old line is cast as far as I can and cut the line in front of the rod. Then move the sinker back to the cut spot and cast again. Cut the line and call it good. Seems to me reversing the line is more trouble than it's worth. You could by simply using a new reel but then to get it back on the same reel you'll have to do it two more time's. Have to do that to simply reverse the line. Just seem's like a lot of bother to me. After the second cut you can tie new line to the line left on the reel and re-spool.

Put on another reel that needs line, done. Once. No back and forth. Nature of the beast I don’t know anyone that fishes that doesn’t end with enough equipment that something doesn’t need line

I do that every time. I don’t lose much braid and seldom cast over half of the spool.

I've done it with 30# pp and sufix 832. No problems. like brand new again on 150 yd spools.

It can be done you have to put on spool from reel then from that spool to another spool then back to reel. Easy.

Always!! Its easier if you have a second spare spool take the spool with the line off of the reel put the empty spool on the reel and just wind the line on done very simple one step deal then for a third fill cast cut put some backing on and repeat you should be able on a freshwater set up to at least get 3 fills per 150 yd spool one reel 2 spools 3 seaons no brainer😀👍

I have done this by standing on a bridge and tie loose end to bridge and let the line from the reel drop into the river and let the water do the work. When you get to the end of the line on your spool, just cut it loose and drop it, the river will straighten it out. Untie end from bridge and attach to reel and just wind line in.

I've done it. Certainly worth the effort.
