Yeah...that is a bit odd since your story was about fish and fishing adventure! I have actually had the opposite thing happen...a post to chit chat going into the main forum...not by my choice but I was OK with it. I believe that any photos uploaded with a chit chat post never get placed in "new pictures" by deliberate design...so that is normal.

As has been said, we all like to contribute in numerous ways on this site, and it is a fun diversion if a person has the extra time. Thank goodness most folks on here tend to browse things right away...or at least "same day", so your posting was able to be viewed in the main category for a while.

Not sure if people know this, but by "clicking" on a persons username in any of their posts, the system will take you to all the items you post or reply to. Kind of a summary of your usage. It is a good way to check out postings that people have done over their entire span of time as members. You would be missed if you leave...so perhaps sleep on the idea? I enjoyed your posting by the way. This forum allows me to "travel" all over the place and get a glimpse of what other fishing folks are up to without ever having to leave home!
