I just received a Penn SPINFISHER SSV9500 and it appears to be a pretty unique, and awesome reel. I’m going to be using it inshore for alligator gar fishing and I’m not sure what type of rod I need to purchase for it. I had it braided with Pro Cat 80lb. and I’m just excited to have it. If any of you out there can provide me with what I should use with this setup please let me know. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone! That's a Beast of a reel G, I know people who jig for tuna with those , so Gar should be no problem. I don't have any Spinning rigs that big, but you should base your decision on how far you will be casting, and how heavy of a rig you'll be throwing. Sorry I can't be more specific, but someone with more experience in that fishery will be along. Good luck and Tight Lines!
Thank you so much Fredfish, I appreciate you.
