I have 2 or 2 auto inflate life jackets that deployed spontaneously
One in the cab of my truck and another one or 2 that blew in boat storage locker.
I hit a great new one a couple years ago. A Mustand Survival and am pleased with it
I’ve tried to rearm a couple times and at the last second they deploy on me.
Not a clue what I’m doing wrong
And I’m not willing to shell out $35 a pop to experiment
Don’t want to leave these just hanging in garage
Any one know of anyone who can rearm these.? Like Cabelas or Bass Pro or local tackle guy .
What are some thoughts on this ?

I rearmed the two that I have because they deployed in my boat last winter. I was told that if you don't keep them away from foggy damp air that they will do that. And you have to rearm them with the ones that are made for that model or it won't work right.
Thanks
I store my new one different now.
The ones I tried to rearm were right part number. I’m thinking I’m doing something wrong
So, moisture deploys them?
Yea in my boat storage locker it’s really humid. I’m guessing that’s what did it
Inside my truck however… maybe heat.
Ben i just reamed one on mine . took the 33 cly. Didn't gave a problem other than getting right one. They change the #. I didn't put mine back in the bag just put it in box. Accidentally pulled cord. One thing i read was don't lay them flat if they may get wet. Set them upright. Heat may have set the one off. At a job site one day we heard a loud bang. Couldn't figure out what it was till lunch. One if the guys had a can if wd-40 in his dash n it exploded. Broke the windshield n coated the entire cab with wd-40.
Self inflating life jackets have a quick dissolving tablet something like an aspirin that holds the trigger pin back.
If these are stored in humid conditions the tablets get soft and will allow the trigger to activate. I use the non automatic kind that you have to pull the lanyard to operate. I have never had one of those go off accidentally.
Take it to a store that carries that brand and ask them to arm it. Better if it is a private store that has knowledgeable employees rather than a big box store.
Just something to check: have you cleaned out the residue from the old tablet so that the new one is seating right? If not, the firing pin could be sticking out to far.
Read recently that some guys are getting compressed air cartridges at bicycle shops. Less expensive is the driver.

Major i heard that also. Then i read another article that said the vest is set up for one specific cartridge. If it's not right 3 things i remember was will not fully inflate over inflate or not at all. I'm not risking failure to save a couple $. Since i often fish alone manual pull is not a option.
The auto inflate tablet also has an expiration date and yes water is what sets off that is the ones I have . You can change the without setting it off.
Can those jackets be stored in a sealed plastic bag to keep out moisture ?
