Hello Brownsville Tony,

Thanks for the tips. I will put the glue on them upon receipt. I will also try the minnow you suggested. I appreciate the tips from you pro fishermen. I'll post the photos of my catch.

I'm not a pro, just an 80 year old who fishes a lot. If I recall correctly I caught that one on live mullet. I was fishing with a pro that day along with my son-in-law. Used a popping cork, a short drop leader and "dead sticking" it. That is like not moving the bait but letting the fish find it and take it. Probably less than 2' of water and the fish was not able to make any long hard runs. We were able to get him in the net fairly quickly. I generally rig heavy braid line, not because I need it to be that strong but small diameter braid tends to imbed into the spool. 20 lb fluorocarbon and a 1/0 jay hook. Pretty standard rig.

VuDu shrimp don't mix with other plastics, likke DOA's. Make sure you keep them in their own package. I think the price is up to about $8 now and they are hard to find, so you don't want them to break down on you.

Thanks for your response. I'm 75 and about to pickup my fishin pace since I am now semi-retired. I have been a professional private investigator for the past 41 years..I am finishing a few cases, not taking on any new cases in August so I plan to be in or at the water with my rigs..Heading down to Charleston, SC where ig Reds, Flounder, Trout and whatever else get hooked..If they are legal size, they're going into the cooler...Lol

Hey Pixiedog456005 ,
I really enjoyed your story about making shrimp from bendable straws.
Any chance you would share instructions on how you make them?
I fish a lot at the mouth of the Suwannee River with my son and its our opinion that shrimp are the best bait for reds, trout, flounder, and Sheepshead. The only problem is shrimp are very expensive and difficult to locate because of their popularity with fishermen.
I thank you in advance for your assistance with this matter.

Well you have some prime water there, you should do well. This is just my unprofessional opinion, but I think Reds don't like afternoon sun. Fish trout during the day and wait until the shadows start to lengthen out to go after reds. I like to fish western shore lines of inlets, etc. Maybe it is the angle of the sun on the water? I found the same thing to be true of smallmouth bass. See how it works for you.

Thanks for the tips! I will remember that when I go get'em! I'll name the first catch Brownsville Tony!...Lol..I saw a video of a fisherman in a Kayak fishing under the docks in the shadows and he was snatching those reds out of the water. This was the guy that a big red took for a red, 31 inches and huge! Good luck this week if you go after them!
