Good Morning Anglers!

I ordered some shrimp lures that look to be good for saltwater fishing! Has anybody I used this type of bait? If so, what was your success with them? They are luminous with an attached hook?

DOA’s and Vudu shrimp are deadly. They also have weighted hooks or embedded cylindrical weights. They have to be worked slowly to mimic a shrimps movement.

Thanks for the reply FourchonLa! I am looking forward to receive these lures. I watched a video of a pro fishing guide using them and he was working the lures as you said, he was snatching big reds and trout out of the water. He was in a kayak and one of the reds pulled him and took him for a ride. When he finally landed the fish, it was 31 inches long, beautiful red. He was catching and releasing..the big red was beyond the 24 inches so he had to let him go. I know a few fisherman that caught this size and headed to the landing and put it away!...Lol..ifthe game warden had caught him, he would have been in trouble...I follow the rules...Heading to Charleston soon to go after reds, trout and flounder from the Pitt Street Bridge..Where are you?

I have a place on the gulf coast south and west of New Orleans in Fourchon. It’s pronounced Foo-Shawn. Those reds will bring you on what we call a Cajun sleigh ride. We can keep five between 16 and 27 inches. Only one can be 27 or more inches. I usually only keep the 16 to 20 inch ones as they are the best eating. Good luck and post some pics.

Live, dead or artificial shrimp is hard to beat!

Even an artificial shrimp made from a household bending straw. I make the in the winter time while watching TV.

Nawww!
Never even tried that stuff. Always did the sports thing. Always on the top.
The straws did like Gatorade, Power Aid, lemon aid, NetZero, sweet tea with so much sugar the sugar swirls when stirring the ice.

Just kidding anyway. I just thought of it because of the topic a few days ago. The problem when people flush drugs down toilets... it all goes into everyone’s and everything’s water.

WOW! How creative! I'm anxious to get down to Charleston to try those spots Gordon told me about. Man, I would've never thought about using straws but that does look like a white shrimp..

VuDu shrimp has become one of my two go-to baits. One little tip though. Put a tiny drop of super-glue on the weight right where the head of the shrimp is. If you don't the head will pop up at an unnatural angle and ruin the action. Stick to natural colors in clean water and darker colors in dirty water. Work them slow, slow, slow!

Here is another tip. When the VuDu finally falls apart (they last forever) use a Gulp Live 3" minnow on the hook. They are deadly on the snappers, whiting and flounder. That hook sets level on the bottom with the tail sticking up and it driv es them nuts.

Any chance of getting instructions on how to turn a bendable straw into one of those very nice White Shrimp you constructed?

Hello Brownsville Tony,

Thanks for the tips. I will put the glue on them upon receipt. I will also try the minnow you suggested. I appreciate the tips from you pro fishermen. I'll post the photos of my catch.

I see you holding that "Big Red!" That's what I want to hook. What kind of bait did you use to catch the one in the photo? How long did it take to land it? What kind of line were you using? Hope you don't mind the questions.
