The worm snagless junior size lure.
My lure of choice for a variety of fish is - the Panther Martin 1/4 oz (#6) Black Body with yellow spots and gold blade in-line spinner :-).
I have caught HUGE LMBs, variety of trout, SMBs, crappie, catfish, steelhead, salmon, walleye, yellow perch on this spinner. And I have fished Arizona, Idaho and Bay Area (California) lakes and rivers.
If you haven't tried it, give it a try. If you have tried it, you know what I'm talking about :-) I have a small tackle box with just that spinner in it, (qty - 10) in case I get snagged and lose one :-)

If we're talking fresh water, lures and not bait, it is hard to beat a 1/8 ounce Panther Martin. Years ago, living in New Mexico, I found them to be almost irresistible to all species of trout and unusually effective on German Browns. In the upper Midwest they are a bit large for average panfish but I've caught several huge Smallmouth Bass and quite a few Largemouth.

But alas, the last bluefish blitz in the Townsend Inlet Bridge, Castrated me!!!
Yes! Panther Martin’s truly get bit! With all the rooster tail talk etc., I thought I was alone. Nice to hear that y’all still have faith in the tried & true. I don’t fish for trout nearly as much as I used to ( die hard bass fisherman for years now ), but when I do... I still slay trout all day long on Panthers. As far as I’m concerned... best trout lure of all time! And believe me... I’ve tried em all🎣

For fresh water....Black Rooster Tail or garden hackle...
Just a couple of other points and ideas, I like the curly tail grub on a 1/8 oz lure for another reason besides the fact that it is a great fish catcher. I can carry a little zip lock bag with grubs, jigheads, and some spinner harnesses and fish all day. I usually have a few of the roostertail jig heads, a few split shots and small hooks for a grub wacky rig in the bag too so I can offer a lot of different techniques and looks. I like to wade fish and have a little bag that I wear like a necklace for that.
The biggest reason that I think that I have so much success with these little lures is that they are dirt cheap and I will throw them right in the top of any bush or weed bed that I see. When your lure costs pennies instead of dollars you are just a lot freer with where you throw it.
I like the small spinnerbaits too and use them in open water but if I can only have one it will be a small grub
All the input is great and obviously comes from experience... If I had to choose 1 trout lure for the rest of my life... Panther Martin hands down! There’s no guessing, no hesitation. With confidence I can say... with thousands upon thousands of trout caught... rainbows, browns, cutthroat, Gila, brookies, goldens and hybrids, there is no better spinner on the planet! From the high Sierras, to Oregon rivers, to meandering creeks and brooks in the Pacific North West, all the way to Tennessee and back... the Panther Martin spinners has proven its themselves worthy in every state, for every trout species... Lets not forget Artic Grayling. Now, let’s talk bass fishing 🤔🎣😆
Strike King spinner chartreuse and white with the extra trailer hook. Something will always hit that. Biggest 7.6 lb largemouth, and 50 bass in three hours once - in Northeast Ohio.
Anyone in the West side of Florida who fishes close to shore or lakes have any suggestions for good fishing lures to use?
