Went to misquito lake today with a kayak and a couple ul rods. A 4' 8" pflueger president rod/president sp20 reel combo and a B&M 5' sharp shooter with a pflueger president sp20 reel. Was looking for crappie on the north end. Wasn't getting anything and it was too windy to try the south end (white capping). So I decided to go over to another inland lake +/- 15 miles away. Pymatuning lake.
This time of year is always excellent for catfish in this lake. They are super clean and the majority of them are in the 12" to 24" range. Perch are still hitting pretty hard so I set the ul's up with #6 hooks & drop shots baited with night crawlers. Only fished about 4 hours but I had enough hits to keep it interesting.
Ended up with 10 perch and 6 catfish
To put those fish in perspective the fish (yellow perch) in the 3rd row (far right) on the bottom is the 10" fish pictured below. It's always a blast to ketch the bigger fish on these small ul setups. Along with getting ! 1/2# of perch fillets & 3# of catfish fillets. This is mainly what I stock up on for winter along with fall crappie & bluegill.

A nice variety of fish Forrest. Damn good eats.
Breaks my heart. Haven't had the first bite from a cat this year.

Pymatuning has been on fire with catfish and perch the last couple years. Last year I targets catfish there & ended up having several fish fries (6+ people every fry) and 40# of fillets to get thru the winter. These catfish are super clean with no gamey taste at all. It common for the people at the fry's to ask what they're eating. When I tell them catfish they don't believe me.
good luck if you hit either lake,
Thank you everyone for the replies, been busy lately and finely got time to go out and do a little fishing. I'm glad the catfish are still there in abundance.

THAT is my kind of fishing. Woohoo. Freezer meat!
I've tried both those lakes by boat, but have struck out. Haven't tried that kayak yet. May need to meet up and have you show me the ropes.
Nice catch, I grew up fishing Mosquito, living in Central Ohio now, boy do I miss it.
Nice catch, thanks for sharing your pictures.
That's some nice fish. Way to go. Thanks for the pics. 👍👍👏
