I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is no way to ELIMINATE line twist on a spinning reel. It's inherent in the design of all spinning reels. Don't believe me? Try this.
Lay out a 50ft extension cord, rope, or garden hose, on the ground. Get it as straight and tangle free as possible. Pick up one end with your left hand, and start coiling it around your arm, from your hand around your elbow. Before you get it half coiled, guess what,IT'S GETTING TWISTED UP! That's exactly how a spinning reel works.
The only way to eliminate that is to redesign the spinning reel, and make the spool spin when you turn the handle, instead of having the rotor spin around the spool.

That's true Fred, but I think the theory goes that the line turns as well if there is a swivel to allow free movement. Not sure it works but that's the theory. I can say tat I've thrown loops off a spinning reel that have been some nasty knots.

Oh definitely FT, and keeping the line tight helps cut down on the loops that fly off. But even if you straightened the line after every cast, when you reel it back in it will be twisted again. I used Sampo ball bearing swivels exclusively when I fished in the salt, and while it helped, and that was heavier line,and more resistant to twisting , it still occurs.

You need to whack the end once in a while anyway, especially on the beach. Sand and rocks take a toll.

That's what I do after every trip, cut off about 6ft,and retie a new leader.

I found with twist in the line, most of the time its reeling while the fish are taking line or the spool is turning while winding. The drag should be enough that under normal lure fishing that the spool doen't turn. When hooked up and the fish starts taking line stop reeling and use the rod to control the fish, when it stops start reeling again.

You're correct Ronnie, that will make it much worse, reeling against the drag. But there will always be some, no matter what you do. Try my example with an extension cord or something.

The only way I have ever been able to avoid line twist on my spinning reels was to trade them for bait casters

That definitely INCREASES the amount of twist.

Yeah Beeswingm, being a softer weave of fibers , it's much less noticeable than on a single, harder strand of mono or fluoro.
