Hello, I'm recently retired and trying to pickup this game of fishing. I have been out recently to Silverwood and Diamond Valley with no luck at both. I just like being out there on the water so I have been ok not catching anything but it's time for me to start learning more. I am not sure if it's the lures I used or the techniques I don't know, not sure but I'm going back out to Silverwood soon and would like to ask what are the best baits, lures to use, any techniques used there and this time I will be shore fishing. Any tips I would greatly appreciate and of course I will post any fish I do catch. Thank you all who read this for your time.
Jonesm2: It would help to know what you are fishing for. It could be that you should be using some kind of bait other than artifical lures. I don't know since I am unfamiliar with CA waters. There are a lot of members of the Forum in CA so someone should be along who will be able to give you better advice. Just Sayin....RJS

I think that's my issue Bob I just go fishing I'm not actually targeting any one species so maybe that's what I need to do is have a target and a plan then maybe I'll catch something. Thank you for your input my friend.

Welcome Jonesm2, I just looked up Silverwood And it has a good array of fish in it. There is a website to look at that will give you A lot of info. California’s Greatest Lakes, it names fishing spots and baits used for each Species of fish in the lake. There is even the contact info for a couple Guide Services, one or two trips with those and you would know a bunch of things to try and where to go. I’m not familiar with the lake but it sounds like a great place to be able to Fish. Good Luck and let us know!
Thank you I will keep you updated and thanks for this info truly appreciated!
