D please hit "quote reply" before you answer someone, then we'll all know who you're talking to. Do you smoke? I used to and I always carried a hanky or rag soaked in either peppermint or anise. I still carry the hanky even tho I don't smoke. My grandpa smoked a pipe and he always used the peppermint oil and he always caught bunches of fishes.
Now this is no chit.

He sneezed out on the lake once, sneezed so hard his dentures flew out and ended up at the bottom. He broke out his bacon and egg samich which he had brought for lunch and baited his hook with some of that bacon. Let that sink to the bottom and he loved bacon so much his teeth latched onto it and he saved his dentures.

Whitereb and I have been slaying them with crickets 🦗 lately. I like to put a drop of Slab Sauce on em.

I have a pond on my property and when I take the grandkids fishing we start with small jigs (1/64 or 1/32oz) using gulp 1" minnows and tipped with a wax worm. Once the fish start biting we no longer use the wax worms because the bluegills stay active due to the scent of the gulp minnows. Works great.

Spirit, hahahahaha!!!
D, how far from the bobber is your hook? Maybe adjust the space between them? I usually leave about 2 1/2 feet to start. After you cast and sit for a few minutes, you can reel in a little from time to time to create some action and catch their attention. I’ve caught loads of bluegill and bass that way, using a chunk of nightcrawler as bait. Good luck!

Try a small piece of hotdog or a cricket on a small hook.

I got these on a river Saturday with chicken liver. no clue on bass, I think they require more skill than I have yet. I use an extra long leader with liver free floating for bluegills. good luck and keep casting.

I agree with trying crickets. I like to use an Aberdeen hook with a bubble bobber. If you fill the bobber, you can float them on top. If that doesn’t work, you can drain the bobber and add a couple split shots to get it below the surface. It works great with panfish but not sure about bass. However, I have caught a couple catfish with crickets while fishing for panfish.

Cast out to the sides or out past them. I you can see them they may be seeing you and not bitting.

What sinker rig said. Sometimes you gotta be quiet or stealthy, because fish do get spooked and won’t bite...My 2cents

Try washing hands in lake water to remove all oils and smells off before baiting hook
.fish are very good at smelling bad oders
