Bass on glass calm waters....
Spent a pleasant morning on East Bay in Traverse City, MI... kayak trolling for smallmouth bass. Pretty "quiet" on the bite side of things and only managed to convince one single fish to try my breakfast offering of a crunchy crayfish. Bass still guarding beds, although many are starting to finally get over the spawning routine and begin their normal Summer cruising routines.
calm waters - my favorite fishing condition when kayaking
smallmouth bass - Rapala jointed natural crayfish in size 5

What exactly is that liquid looking substance in the background?
Kinda looks like water , but the water I’m used to has great big crashing waves on it
Huh!

Indeed, sometimes the "Big Lake (Michigan)" can get pretty riled up, but when you catch it on a calm day, with bright sunlight overhead, it has a tropical appearance! Honestly...I was not fishing in an aquarium or swimming pool, even though it looks that way!
Perfect water surface conditions for throwing topwater baits. Sometimes you grt get to see a bulge in the water just before the strike, I LOVE that.
