So for those of us that drive a sedan, how do you transport a 7ft rod? With children in the back of the car and all my tools for work in the trunk it’s not easy to fold down the seats. Id like to work on a baitcaster, guess I’ll have to decide between left or right hand retrieve for that.

Put the butt of the rod on the floor on the passenger side and have the rod go up and over the seat / center console.
Be VERY careful putting it in the car and taking it out!
From experience, sticking it out the window will lead to negative consequences at some point - keep it inside the car.

A truck is a mighty fine thing!
When all else fails try a ski rack on the roof.

No question about it.....I screwed up and sold mine, huge mistake, but I can get two 9' rods in my Rav4 with ease, just lay them across top of front and rear seats, then place the butts on the dash
Flytier, that's what I do
Roof rack gets them up and out of the way. You’ll have room for a kayak, too!

I can just fit my 11 foot surf rigs inside my Tahoe but I use the ski rack if I'm going more than 2 hours away.
I use magnetic rod holders to carry my 9 ft fly rods around. They work great.

Great idea! Have to check those out.
Fish4fun, Where did you find those magnetic rod holders for your car top?
Don’t remember but it was through an internet search, probably for car top rod holders or magnetic rod holders
