I was watching a special, The lumber mills are the main reason prices went up. The cost and the number of people getting trees to the mills had not changed. The mills cut back on staff, which has lead to a shortage of lumber. And then the mills are sitting on the lumber after it has been cut.
If I was in the New York markets, and has stocks in this companies I would have tripled my money.
I saw that just two days ago. A local saw mill had 5 rows of truck length logs close to 100 yards long (guessing from the road). Mill wasn’t running but log truck were hauling logs in. We can buy a 2x4 around here without taking out a second mortgage. $2.00/lineal foot for an 8 footer. They were $2.00/board last year at Home Depot. Went up 800% in a year for dimensional lumber. 😲
