Curious why you are hesitant at fishing any lake or pond. Its not like hunting where a stray bullet ends up in the dining room of a farm house. If its not fenced or posted, have at it. Neighbors aren't going to come out with guns a blazing. Some just might want you to leave.
I fish central and southwest Florida every day, walking, no boat (5 days a week). For some reason the counties have all the lakes fenced in along I-75. Lakes that were dug for fill to build I-75 years ago. Most have chains with no locks. Simply leave you vehicle outside the gate and walk in. Signs say ""do not enter" or property of "DOT" or "No trespassing, Lee county authorities will ask you to leave premisis or you will be cited".
I'm after a big bass. So fences don't stop me. If I'm fined, so be it. I'm on a mission for that bass. I will slither under a fence or even cut it for me to get to that spot I saw as I driving around. Always looking for that spot.
When I was younger and I got caught speeding, the fine was almost a paycheck. Now I can afford it.
Throw a line in. you may catch something before you get kicked out... but wasn't that thrill of "I got one" worth it?
I think so!!! Thats coming from a 71 year old man that is addicted to bass fishing and has been for 40 years.
Go, Go, Go!

Hey Scofflaw !! Do that 💩 in my former state, Kansas (cut a fence ? get caught, we'd drag you behind something), or my home state (38yrs) of Oregon and we just shoot your a$$ with rock salt, just like any other pest that we don't truly wish death on, but going to the trouble of obtaining rubber bullets would just be a hassle.

I find your flippancy disgusting.

You are the VERY REASON so many have locked their gates and formed poor opinions of fishermen and hunters.
You are the epitome of the scourge of disrespectful idiots who constantly push the limits of people's patience with the disregard of signage, and yet if something were to happen to you while on the property you are trespassing on.... you'd be calling a lawyer and suing the landowner.

You are also guilty of being the first person on this forum that I can truly say....Stay the hell away from me.

The only thing that irks me more than hearing your disturbing "Me man, Me go where want to, hell with consequences" b.s., is that you BRAG about being 71 yrs old......up until that point, I assumed you were a petulant child having just obtained a man's body.
(btw.... you STILL are)

Sad to think of how ingrained in you these thoughts must be and how unfortunate it is if you have spread this awfulness.
I would say "you should be ashamed of yourself" but I am certain that would fall on deaf ears, right ?

Sometimes you can ask permission yet any river or conservation area on a lake usually is a good start. Some public lakes In cities offer good fishing. Or you could hire a bank fishing guide like myself. Bank fishing pros. LLC. 636-209-9610.

I’ve come to believe they are plant questions from the administration to get us talking about questions they think will spark new user interest. I can’t remember ever seeing on of them respond!! Often they get great answers from knowledgeable folks!!! And nothing.......

I have to agree J! However, if that is the case "plant questions" ....what a waste of everyone's time! There is plenty of great conversation and information sharing here! I could do without the silly plants!

I know there’s tons of lakes and ponds and rivers near me but how can I be sure what I’m allowed to fish on and not? Some are hard because some lakes are all lined with houses. So that’s obviously all private land. I don’t have a boat so I’m only able to fish from the shore. It’s the biggest question I have that’s kept me from actually going out and fishing. I want to start fishing because it seems fun and relaxing and just a way to escape the day to day. But I just don’t know where to go or how to know where I can fish.

You should get a rude response to that one. I’d say. Just ask before you go. If you’re not sure don’t go there.

I see a pond I'd like to fish. I go ask if it's ok for me to fish it. Frequently, the owner is hesitant. I simply tell them that they do not owe me an explanation. It is their pond. I also let them know that they DO NOT have to worry about me leaving any garbage at all and I will pick up any garbage I see. I will never fish there without checking in with them first. They almost always then agree to let me fish. Most of them do say that their biggest concern is that folks who have fished their pond before left bottles, cans and other garbage.

I like to fish at White Pines Lake and I just want to say that the trail around the lake is very clean. Many people hike around the lake and I know people really keep the trail very clean. I've never seen any trash left on the trail !
