Had four fish break off, so frustrating. I use primarily 6lb & 8lb Fluor. Don't know if the line was frayed, bad knot tying(maybe one), or just that the fishing gods were playing with me today. Beginning to think I shoul go to straight braid.....any thoughts on the subject.
Don't think I have ever lost that many big fish

OBG, I’d go with straight braid. It’s easier to tie a knot and it won’t come off your lure or hook. What you were able to land are some nice Bass. Congrats.

OBG, that one you’re holding looks darn nice! If your knots pulled you’d see a pigtail at the end of your line. That being said I do really like braid with a fluro or mono leader. Currently using it on all of my reels with the exception of my trout rods and am even thinking of spooling them up with braid as well.
b I have braid on all my trout rods but one. I use 17 pound power pro and then tie on a fluoro leader, as small as I can see to tie a knot in. Bad eyes. And shaky hands. That one has two pound fluoro on it and it's only used in crystal clear streams with small trouts. It may be retired soon, those streams for some reason, are just getting harder and harder to get to.

We're you at Skinner or Perris lake?
Use to live down So California!
Love both the lakes !!
Only fished Diamond Valley once.
I like also using 6lb and 8lb test floral line. All the lakes are fished fished so much I feel you need light line especially floral.
Good fishing best of fishing.
Have you ever tried Puttingstone lake I have caught some Bass out of there also.

If you lost the BIG ones and kept the small ones??? I’d use bigger line. Lol That picture is bigger than any bass I ever catch and I have 12 pound flouro or mono when I’m not using 15 pound braid.
That's still a nice fish. Way to go. 👍👍
Still you caught some fish, right? So it was a great day...I would certainly switch to braid. I can assure you the bass won’t mind...My2cents.
First off, don't knock old guy's as it sure beats the hell out of the alternative. Not too sure about Braided line. Two long time fishing buddies both tried Braided line and had nothing but trouble. One loose line or bird nest and the rest of their braid was cut off and never bought again. I use P-Line Flourocarbon 6, 8 or 12 lb. and my personal best stands at 6.44 lbs. on the 8lb. line. I have had the similar experience of losing 3 fish in 1 outing. An older bass fisherman told me his secret. Bend the tip of the hook out slightly. When the tip is parallel to the shaft the bass can spit the hook, but when the tip is outward it tends to catch more often. I bend out ALL of my hooks and now lose a lot fewer fish. Your day out is still impressive. I must ask where you were fishing, as I am from Hemet, CA but now live at Lake of the Ozarks, MO.To all the others reading this, I apologize for this long reply.
Fish On !

Go to braid and remember it's smaller so 15 will be sized close to 6

Was back at Skinner. Have not tried Puddingstone, but have heard some good things about it.

Ah hah.....just had an ah hah moment about 2pm this morning. Bet my drag was too tight. I remember losing a couple of big fish for that reason about 3-4 years ago. Might have thought of that sooner if I weren't so dern old. Wish I would have thunk about that after losing the first one. Will be checking that when I get up and awake. Report to follow. Thanks all for your advice. I am going to go braid to a leader on one set up.
Sorry you lost them but dang, that’s a nice catch you’re holding! Seems like the best way to see if you fixed the problem would be to go back out there and try it again. 😁

The difference between a male fisherman and a female fisherlady is the female uses common sense and the male uses fisherman nonsense. 😂🤣👩

😂😂 As long as it keeps us all out there fishing, that’s all that matters.
OBG.... sorry you had to wait so long for good advice but I can't be on here all the time. Remember two tried and true rules.
1. Don't leave fish to find fish.
2. If you are catching fish, don't change how you are fishing, to catch fish.
Here is what you need to do. I'm assuming you lost all your fish on the same rod so,
Step 1. Inspect carefully every eye on your fishing rod for anything that will nick or damage your line.
Step 2. Set your drag so that the fish you are holding would strip drag after a hook up. Not to loose, you need a hook set but the way you are fishing, let the fish have all the worm and a nice sweeping hookset will be all you need. The fish will react to the hookset and start pulling drag. Slowly adjust for more drag and soon the fish is getting tired and his best runs are spent and then you own him. I suspect that you already have done this in the past and know exactly what I'm saying.
Please post a pic of the bigger bass you catch next time and be sure to let everyone know how helpful I was!🤣🤣🤣🤣
