fishing on spruce creek is some of the best in the north east.
Welcome to the forum salamanders. Hope you had a Merry Christmas. I've never fished in Pennsylavania. Trout? Rainbows? Fly or conventional? And other than Spruce Creek, where are you located in Pennsylvania? Please update your profile with you location, it makes it easier to put you in contact with folks in your area.

Never knew the name of that salamander. Had one in the basement window well of our house in Hingham 40 years ago. Never seen one again.
P.S. If I knew it liked Beer I would have left one in the window well!!
Great snapshot of the Tiger Salamander! They are a cool critter, and tell the tale of a healthy ecosystem! I lived in Columbus, OH back in the early 80's, and every other weekend I used to drive over to the State College area and stream fish for brown's and brookies. You have some awesome waters!
Yesterday, being Mother's Day, I asked my wife what she wanted to do as a primary activity for the day and her desire was to take a 4 mile hike along one of our favorite local trails. The route takes you near a trout stream in a few places so she did not object at my suggestion of bringing along an ultralight spinning rod just to make a few quick casts here and there. Only managed one strike on a small Mepps spinner, but still had fun trying.
The highlight of our journey was this little "Smooth Green Snake" that was sunning itself on the trail. Saw a few other garter's as well, but they were not willing to pose for a picture! I guess that they are fairly common, but it was a first sighting for me in all the years I have lived in Michigan as an almost lifelong resident. Thought I would share it with your salamander story for folks to enjoy.
Smooth Green Snake (Grass Snake)
Intricate design!
Some favorite small stream spinners - I've always liked the Mepps product line
