Light Spinning Reel Question

I’m looking to get into the light bass fishing game, but don’t know much about spinning reels. What size reel would work best with 6-8 pound line? Planning on throwing the Ned and drop shot. Thanks everyone.

A 2500 size reel will offer plenty of capacity. Your rod choice will be crucial to give you a chance for big bass on light lines such as 6-8 lb test.

Yes I agree with you. I use the 2500 series reels with Daiwa and Shimano... I use both with Dropshot, Ned Rig, Wacky Rig, along with other techniques. When It comes to casting distance and fishing line capacity the 3000 series is better in my opinion... Both with the Daiwa and Shimano reels. Same type of fishing line weights or lures.. I learned the hard way when one of the guys that I fish with was casting fitness Further than I was because of the reel size... I still use both in different sites... Just my experience..

2500 is a good size reel for that size line. I caught several large bass, up to 20", on 6 lb last year. I used a $50 reel, not $200. I have it on a 6'9" medium light rod.

I have never been disappointed with a Pflueger President. For $59 it is hard to beat…often on sale for $49, too. Good luck with whatever you choose!

I bought 3 or 4 older Shimano 2000 series rear adjust drag spinning reels. Usually mated with Berkeley lightning rods. I hav about $50 in the setup. I used mono or fluorocarbon. I’m as happy as if I spent $200

I loved my lighting rod 😍
Until my grandson accidentally broke the tip off ! A 1/2inch. Put a new tip on but it won't be the same.!! O well love him more than rod.!!!
Good fishing 🎣 and safe trips.
