NJ boat laws?

According to NJ what is needed to have in a boat for greasy water? I know everyone needs a life vest and a throw floating device and I already have a license. Do I need lights etc? Thanks Guys

It depends on how big your boat is, on the regulated equipment. Lights are only necessary at night.

It’s a 10 foot twin troller...Lakes and ponds is it..

I just l[ooked it up. For less than 16 feet, lights must be serviceable and used at night, sound signal device(horn,whistle),backfire flame repressor, fire extinguisher and a pfd for each occupant.

Should hav a flare gun too, no ?, if your gonna be out on a big lake i think you should anyway.

Yeah but if your on a big lake or a reservoir and break down it's still a good idea to have one, they're not too expensive, getting towed is better than rowing all the way back.

Thanks I see it now..I need to take a safety course also?? It’s been years since I fished on state water I mostly fished private lakes and ponds..

Well Guys I got my Boat safety certificate on Sunday.. I have to say its fairly involved with what you need to know. Jet skis,sail boats,alcohol,dingies and booie’s,military ships etc..8+ hrs on line course and the in person test of 60 question...I did surprisingly well I though but I did get one wrong..
Hope to get out in my new boat this weekend.. Thanks for the help guys!
