I have a penn battle 2, 8000 with 65 lb braid on a 12ft star rod. The local tackle shop set me up with fluorocarbon leader, crimps etc. The fluorocarbon snapped 3 times in s row!
Now i have braid to a swivel to 10ft wire to another swivel to 2ft wire to the hook. I have a sliding sinker holder on the 10ft wire section and I cut the hook off and replace the 2 ft wire section after 2 or 3 catches.
