Depends on the temps. Rain pants over boots when the temps are 60* and below. Water proof moccasins 60* and above.
Teva sandals or Crocs, just in case...
Merrill and Keen both make great water shoes. I have some. But for the money, I'd go with the Crocs.
If memory serves me correctly, a croc has openings through out the shoe. If you are fishing in the yak with crocs on and that catch starts squirming all around and near your feet, good chance a fin will find the feet.
Merrill, but if you want more style, refer to pic.
I used to wear old tennis shoes but when small rocks and sand slip in it gets real uncomfortable pretty quick... now I wear an old pair of Keens, easy to put on, keep the rocks out, good sold for not slipping on rocks and the hard rubber up at the front is great protection for your toes.
Been a while since I was in a kayak or canoe but my criteria for choosing would be the temperature of the water and the weather for one but also how well they protect my feet if I step out and most important can I shuck them like a slipper if I find myself swimming. Btw, I didn’t think our Yakima River had fish with dangerous fins or Dorsey spins. Maybe I misunderstood.
They are a little more expensive ($120 I believe) but my wife found me a great pair of adidas water shoes that look like sneakers. I can't say enough good things about them and are well worth the price. I almost never go in my kayak without them.
Academy sells some water shoes with holes in the soles to drain any water you might get in them. I forget the name. But I’m sure you can look them up online...My 2cents..
