Went to another launch way north and made a 7 mile run down to the hit tip spot.
Guy we talked to in another boat said he caught 53 there yesterday and only 2 today.
I’m having a hell of a time figuring it out . we managed a few 20-21 inchers. And partner caught a nice Coho. Beautiful fish that launched 3 ft out if the water. Nice
Everyone that’s catching is tipping soft plastic with minnows. We haven’t been. Definitely will change that
Saw a guy at the hotel with a 27. Not a lot of big females being caught
Rained like pouring puss out of a boot as soon as we got off the water.
Sat in the truck and drank beer and watched the rain.
Tomorrow is another day.

You're making progress Ben, good luck tomorrow.
Yea we almost ran out of beer!!
Silly me thinking a case would last more than a day.
Fortunately store close by.
We were gonna fry some walleye but standing in the rain with a skillet of hot grease didn’t appeal.
Had a decent pizza instead
Drove to a more convenient ramp only to discover it was closed. Sucked having Google maps lady leading us thru every questionable neighborhood imaginable at 6:00 in the morning.
Ben hope your fishing days get better. Always good to have beer handy for those kind of days. Good Luck. 🌴😎🌴
Legally, 53 walleye in one day on the Detroit River would take 9 people, it’s a 6 per person limit

Who says you gotta keep every fish you catch?
Wednesday Spirit and I caught nearly 30 stripers and only kept 2. The limit is 2 apiece.
I used to launch out of Lake Erie Metro Park to get to my spot I wish I could map it for you very few know of it and it is tough to fish but the results are extraordinary. Didn't matter when I went spring, fall, summer they were always there. Mostly I would have it to myself an occasional hand liner would come by and ask how I was doing and I would give him the standard answer. I just got here. When I got to the north end of Sugar Island Canadian side I would
look right to the opening in the rock wall. I would start just right of the opening and drift back towards Sugar Island my drift would last 15 minutes then back to the wall. Hope you do well and get one of those big females my best was 13 pounds and that was the record for many years among my friends that fished Wall eyes.

Maybe need to change your socks or underwear Ben.
I had a couple slow days and the guy I was fishing with got his backpack and said if U don’t want to watch ,don’t, but I’m changing my socks and underwear so we start catching more fish. Well he did - right there in front of God and other boats and we ‘slayed’ them after that - had a great laugh for years after that.
Have at em but enjoy the time.

Said he CAUGHT them, not KEPT
them ! For myself, although I usually catch-and-release, I would keep
two or three walleye for a decent
meal !
You can catch 'em (and release 'em)
all day long, until you've KEPT your limit for the day, THEN you're done
(for that species, anyway) !

Hi Ben, The weather has been questionable but is it too late to try South Bass Island. Sanders Resort, inexpensive, and not fancy, next to a good boat launch. Good luck. Take care.
