Anyone have any experience with the KastKing Perigee II? Thoughts welcome.

Getting back into fishing after a long absence and looking for a decent cheaper rod. It's either between this and a GX2. Hesitant about the GX2's since it seems the quality has gone down some over the years.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have one (7'6" MH) and find it a good rod at its price point. Mine has landed many bass and pike, winter steelhead, and some 20lb+ river kings as well without issue. It's lighter and more sensitive compared to other rods I own at the $50 price point which includes the GX2. A rod that will hold up to the long hard runs of a king salmon and detect the light bites of a steelhead is good in my book regardless of price point.

I am reminded of when I went aboard a Submarine and asked the FT if he had a problem they would say something like - It's broke or It stopped running or some other generalization but never a clear, concise answer. So, please tell me, WHY is a KastKing junk? What is crap about the KastKing? What model/s specifically.

Any cheap is the same.I say no to the GX,but I've had wonder service with all kastking that I've brought or used.No perigee, but speed demon spinning reel, royal legend baitcast reel, and royal legend rod.Along with a speed demon rod.My experience says buy for features and quality, at any price point and you cant go wrong.Im a shimano loyalist, but for value kastking will not disappoint!!

I have a few last kings in my arsenal and have done me just fine!! Poles and bait casters not bad for the price and make for good travel rods

I like that I can set my drag and then leaving the bail closed the fish can take line until I set the trigger in the back of the reel.
