Pulled the trigger and bought my first baitcaster today!...I have no idea what I'm doing
My hat off to you I've tried many times, always the same results a big birds nest next thrown in the lake..lol
thumb control is the key unless you want to keep the break and tension tight. with the break tight, distance is minimal. I practiced with a weight until i could back off the break to get more distance.
birds nest are going to happen. they happen to the pros. most of the time, they are edited out but you can see them sometimes.
practice, practice, practice...
Level-wind ("baitcaster") owners = gluttons for punishment, seeking to become like their heroes, real or imagined. Why buy something that promises to waste your time AND piss you off ? I just don't get it. No salient arguments to persuade a newbie to pursue purchase.....and yet, just on this site alone, dozens wringing their hands over their incompetence with their new gear. Dozens more, brushing aside the bird's nest inevitably, urging them on to "a higher level of competency"..... again... must love strife and struggle... only thing I can figure. Well, carry on, if you must. I'll get out of your way, while you work on that,.... I'm gonna take your spot,...thank you !
new to baitcaster, hey the baitcasters are fine when you get used to the .I noticed in the picture you got braided line. That is a very large step to take as a rookie.May I suggest a mona line .trilene xlt is a great line to start with. Its smote has low memory an if you get a nest you can get it out most of the time.
