If you see bubbles floating up, does that mean there's a fish there?

When going to a lake/pond, if you see bubbles floating up, does that mean there's a fish there?

I always thought it was either from dying material like dead fish or plant life decaying, or from cray fish

IMO it’s a turtle or crawdad something actually disrupting air pockets in the sand or breathing air

Sometimes bubbles just come from ground pressure.

My Dad always told me that it was turtles or decaying vegetation, as well. Can't argue with logic, can't ever remember observing a fish "exhale bubbles". I have to say.... not a fish.

Usually gases from decaying organic matter on the bottom.

Now if the bubbles stay in one place I would think decaying stuff on the bottom. Now if it's moving look for the turtle.

Depending where you are if those bubbles are moving, just might be a gator. Hope the bubbles are going away from you.

I’ve seen turtles cause bubbles but I’ve also seen trout rummage through the weeds and kick up bubbles
