I used to love fishing as a kid with my uncle and cousin in Kansas. We fished channel cat and crappie for the most part. Live minnows for bait. Toss that line out as far as you can from shore, put the pole in the holder, grab a bucket and wait for that pole to bend over. Pretty easy. Now, living in southwest Idaho I would like to learn fishing for smallmouth, trout, etc. I have very little idea how and where to start.

My first thought is the Lake-Link website, just google Lake-Link, go to the search bar on Lake-Link website, type in Idaho and when the state map appears pick on the county your thinking about fishing in. There should be a number of lakes listed for that county. Pick on one of the lakes and see what it has to say. After picking on a few different lakes you should run into comments made by fishing people in that area. It may take a while but with a little effort you will get advice from locals that will clue you in on where what and how to fish some of the local lakes. GOOD LUCK and don't believe everything they tell you. After doing this myself I find that there isn't a lot of people posting much about the lakes I picked on ... It may take a little longer than I thought. Here is a link to the lake I fish in Minnesota just to show you what it might look like if the people in Idaho want to be social
