Happy to have made it back. Welcome home to those who were in the Nam.
Thanks woodguru for the story. I had a very good buddy that was a tunnel rat also. He loved his job to the point that we all wondered what he would or could do when he came home? He didn’t like using a pistol and perfected a knife. My father in law was an expert knife maker and welder by trade. He brought home some super fine stainless from one of his jobs and made two 12” long Bowie knives for Gary. He didn’t die in the tunnels but got blown up riding on an APC that hit a land mine. He was the first Marine from Houston killed in VN.
Sinker, I can relate to your story about bombing the “Hell “ out of VN and surrounding countries. I have another very good buddy who was a Top Gun in the Air Force. He flew 287 bombing runs during his VN duty, was never shot down and made it home safely.
These two along with all the thousands who fought in VN, the 58000 who gave their lives (RIP) and didn’t return and all the men and women that have served our country both past and present-they are my heroes and the ones I look up to; not a bunch of TV personalities, Hollywood blow hardship, over paid athletes who kneel and can’t respect this great country.
Proudly served VN “63-“65.

"Nam" was a bad war
but the young men who went there to fight for their country were not bad
they were heroes
some gave their arms and legs some gave their minds
others gave everything
may Our God keep and hold those fallen soldiers close

Good stuff.....never met a fighter pilot that I didn't like, some of the coolest guys you could know, they treated us weapons zombies very well
Of course we all know things would've turned out differently if we hadn't stopped bombing the north......thanks Hanoi Jane

I was there, 1970....USAF weapons loading on F-4 D models, Phu Cat AFB, plus assignments to Da Nang, Ben Hoa, Phan Rang, Ton Sanut, You have no idea how many bombs and Napalm we loaded and it became clear to us that they weren't being dropped in country, all dropped along the Ho Chi Minh trail in Laos and Cambodia. The entire experience changed my life forever, hardened me and made me cold and dark. I could go on and on but I've been able to hide it all in a quiet corner of my head, don't talk about it, and I will never visit that wall.....I'm not strong enough to see that

I made it to the wall in 1985, found the name of the corpsman that saved my life, I was so overwhelmed with grief that I stepped off the path on to the lawn in front of the wall, a civilian stepped on the lawn to take a photo a ranger immediately told him he could not be there, he looked at me and said, why is he there, the Ranger said he earned the right to be there. United states Marine Corps 1965 to 1969, was in nam 65/66 bravo 1/4

I have great respect for the guys who actually went to Vietnam. I went as far as Turkey, then San Diego, never closer than that. In large part the public has started treating Vietnam era vets much better. Thanks for your support.

I say THANKS to those that didn’t make it home alive.
I say thanks to all those who went
Welcome Home brother!
I really appreciate all of your service. I was the last of the ping pong ball lottery and my birthday put me just out of the mix. I did have to to the local post office for a physical, but # was never called. Thank you all. Deeply.
why is this sacred day not more publicized
Welcome home, to all the heroes who were there.

Exactly. I looked on my Paralyzed Veterans of America calendar and it is on there. But it is not on my Ohio Department natural resources (ODNR). I'm sure others like my father didn't like being recognize for his service over anybody else's service any other time. Veterans Day was fine with him
