Morning ALL,

Just recently moved to Lake Norman, NC area. Love having a lake very close by. Fish a lot of ponds but just purchased my wife and myself kayaks. Looking for some good spots on Lake Norman to fish either bass or other species. Thanks in advance!

Enjoy that yak Mat. Just be carefull if this is your first one. Winds can come up out of nowhere. Always start your trips going into the wind. Let the wind bring you home at the end of your fishing .

Matty I just moved here from Belhaven NC. Born and raised here in the Ellicott City area, went to NC for 16 years and now back here.

Personally i miss NC for the fishing, not for the hurricanes though.

Ohh okay I see you were on the coast. I’m actually north of Charlotte on Lake Norman. I prefer it here over Maryland. But I did 10 years Navy and landed a job at a power plant in this area after getting out.

Well you are in one of the best locations that one could want for fishing. Plus you only get the winds there and not the rising tide.

Yeah I’ve been stationed on the coast the last decade so it’s a nice change to be more west ha. Ans of course. I served 2010-2020, as a machinist mate.

If you get a chance and you like small mouth fishing go above the Conowingo Dam. Great small mouths. Had a 6 lb. drag me all over the Susquehanna River. Fish along the rail road beds but watch out for power boat. There are some large mouth bass also in the cuts.
