To an almost old person.....

I never really liked the terminology "Old People"

But this makes me feel better about it.

And if you aren't one, I bet you know one!

I got this from an "Old Personal friend of mine"!

"OLD PEOPLE" PRIDE

I'm passing this on as I did not want to be the only "old people" receiving it. Actually, it's not a bad thing to be called, as you will see.

·Old People are easy to spot at sporting events; during the playing of the National Anthem. Old People remove their caps, cover their hearts, stand at attention and sing without embarrassment. They know the words and believe in them.

·Old People remember World War II, Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal, Normandy, and Hitler.. They remember the Atomic Age, the Korean War, The Cold War, the Jet Age and the Moon Landing. They remember the 50 plus Peacekeeping Missions from 1945 to 2005, not to mentionVietnam .

·If you bump into an Old Person on the sidewalk he will apologize. If you pass an Old Person on the street, he will nod or tip his cap to a lady. Old People trust strangers and are courtly to women and treat them with great respect.

·Old People hold the door for the next person and always, when walking, make certain the lady is on the inside for protection.

·Old People get embarrassed if someone curses in front of women and children and they don't like any filth or dirty language on TV or in movies.

·Old People have moral courage and personal integrity. They seldom brag unless it's about their children, grandchildren or their animals.

·It's the Old People who know our great country is protected, not by politicians, but by the young men and women in the military serving their country.

This country needs Old People with their work ethic, sense of responsibility, pride in their country, and decent values.

We need them now more than ever.

Thank God for Old People....

Pass this on to all of the "Old People" you know.

I was taught to respect my elders.

It's just getting harder to find them.

Good one Oz, I am not to that 80 year category, but recognize many of the thoughts, and if I meet or pass someone older then I, they are treated with my best respect!

Is that your way of saying/ implying that you still consider yourself to be among those
'young pups' ?

Hmmm ! Before this post ,
I thought I was 'old', but if the mark has been raised to 80,
then I figure I've still got a few good years left !

No, I don’t consider myself a young pup, but must realize that there are still many elders, that should receive respect.

Well, I disagree with that. Give em the benefit of the doubt maybe. But respect? Just because you managed to make it to "name a number"? Respect is earned. I guess I've known too many "old people" that weren't worth the time of day, much less any respect. I respect children more than the elderly. They are honest and innocent. Of course they can be horrible little monsters too, especially to each other.

My favorite tee. On the front is a picture of an old, grizzled guy and says: Old Man's Cub. On the back it says: In a world where men die young, beware the old man.

Well I’m an old person, well north of 80. Talking about respect- my wife and I were in Hawaii on vacation ‘19 and were out at the Arizona memorial at Pearl. There were a group of young Japanese tourists on that trip and they were making rude remarks and trash talking about the American soldiers and the “great attack” on Pearl. After a couple minutes I had enough, went over to the docent and told him he had 5 minutes to shut them up before I started throwing people overboard. I told him I was a veteran and wasn’t going to stand for it. He took charge and there wasn’t another peep from those tourists but I did get a lot of looks and some nice thank you’s from other American tourists. Vietnam ‘63-“65.

It offends me when I'm watching the news and they refer to someone 17 years my junior as "elderly"!
THAT person isn't elderly! Heck, I don't even think of myself as elderly, yet!
