I agree with Ivey on that. You can put 20/30 lb braid on it. Plenty of line plenty of strength. Unless you buy high quality mono you're looking for trouble. Use floro if you want cast nice and durable. 👍👍

Two things I can suggest.
1 go to Cabelas or bass pro, local shop. If you buy the line, they spool it for you for free.
2 If you do it yourself, the line comes off the spool one way better than other. If its jumping off, it has a twist to it. When this happens to me. I would throw line in canal, let tide take it all off and then rewind. Makes it good.

If you're spooling 25 # mono on a spinning reeled depending on the real size that's probably part of the problem. The cheeper heavier line on a spinning reel is asking for trouble, back down to 10 to 12 on a spinning reel or go to braid with a mono or floro leader should fix the problem

Most of the time anything over 10# will jump off the spool, I use 8 and 6# on mine

Depends on size of reel. Also. Take time to reel a little and see if it's coming off spoil if it starts flip it over and reel a little more. Repeat process. 20 lb. To much for smaller reel. Also dont over fill reel

What every one has told you is right on! Use a top brand line.
What brand of spinning reel do you have?
I bought a Penn spinning reel for my Grandson for Christmas and the Penn reels have a spacer in the box to put on the shift if the the line doesn't go on right and have never seen that before ?!
Good luck
When I put on new line and I take take my boat out I let about 50 to 100yrds out in the no wake zone with a weight on it and real it in. Works great!!
Good luck fish 🐟
Have a Happy Easter

I do the line out the boat when I get twist in the line except I don't use a weight. Let the line peal off the spool and pull it a short ways with nothing on the line it will help keep twists out of your line.

Ivy is completely right 25 lb test on a spinning reel just doesn't work especially if it's cheap line
