Tips for making fishing buddies?

I haven’t had the most luck with finding people to fish with. I’m the only person I know who likes to fly fish, and I haven’t been able to convince anyone to learn. I’ve tried setting up times with people online to meet up, but then they leave me hanging and never follow through. I love fishing by myself, but sometimes I want to share that experience with someone else. Does anyone have any advice?

Offer to go fishing, but don’t force anyone to fly fish only. If you have a spare rod for them to try it, that may help as it is intimidating to some. Good luck!

Post your fishing area and your request here on the stage and see what happens. Great group of folks here.

Only fly fishing I've been good at is with the fly swatter. I've tried it but never dedicated enough time to get good at it.

Yeah what’s your location? Plum is right, lots have connected on here. And OJ’s right too, if you have spare fly fishing equipment to share that’s a plus. I have got more than one person into there first fish on a fly rod, using my extra gear.

Maybe post a note in bait shops, tackle shops and notes on the marina boats/bulletin boards.

Knowing the location would be nice. I have the same issue I often go alone to fly fish. When I go with family and grandkids I spend most of my time helping the kids with no time for myself.
I'm located in so ca and my spot is in the eastern sierras. If your serious about meeting up with me there I'm in.

Find a kid in your neighborhood and if he's young talk to the parents.

Fly fishing intimidates a lot of people its a minor art form , try talking about regular fishing then introduce them to fly fishing
