I had a fishing buddy that had 2 boys 11 and 13 we were crappie fishing with minnows at a farm pond.
The fish seemed to be out maybe 3 feet or so than the boys could cast.
So I baited thier rods acted like I was rubbing the minnows on my crotch casted their out they started catching fish.
Just as happy as could be the rest of the time.
After I got home I got a phone call from their Mother.
She had a few words about how taught her boys to fish.
I explained she was trying not too laugh.
Over 30 years ago still talk about it, needless to say I haven't yet fished with the 2 grandsons

Kiss first fish caught for the day before releasing it. Trout anyway. Salmon keep em. Can kiss em though

Owww ! Just the thought of that hurts ! Never did that kind of 'fly' fishing, but I did once end up wearing a size 10 'wooly-bugger'
for an ear-ring while attempting
a double-haul cast - that was my last day using fly-fishing gear, although I still spin-fish with
'bubble and fly' set-ups ! Had to walk a quarter-mile back to my truck (with fly hanging from my ear) to get the wire-cutters so
that I could snip the barb off to remove the hook from my
ear-lobe ! Been a confirmed
'spin-fisherman' ever since !

years ago My girlfriend's sisters were down from Milwaukee , we were drifting between Delaware Bay and Indian River through Massy's ditch and I told them they had to spit on the bait to catch fish and funny enough it worked , we all were hooking nice Fluke and when they asked why it worked I said it was because of the beer we were drinking , Moosehead ! OZ Thanks for bringing that memory back to mind .
