Hello ...

My name is Kerry Calkins and I go by "KC". My wife and I recently moved to the area to be closer to our Daughter's family. My grandson loves to fish and we are looking for new places to learn and fish from shore. I will eventually have a fishing boat but for now we are ashore. Any suggestions would be apprecitated?

KC

Me too KC. There are over 35,000 of us on here and most of us haven't a clue where Slidell is. Help us out and put your location - city and state - into your profile. And post some pictures please.

For those who don't know where Slidell is, I'll tell you.
It's north of New Orleans on Lake Pontchartrain on the way to the Gulf Coast. Beautiful city with a lot to do.
Your choice of fishing, salt, brackish or freshwater. And you can do all of it on the same trip.
Main fish targeted are speckle trout (spotted weak fish), redfish (red drum) and flounder. Those three make up the blessed trinity. Sheepshead, black drum (16" to no more than 22") larger ones have a lot of worms. When fishing the lake and surrounding marsh areas there is no telling what you might catch. All of the above and some very nice Green Trout (bass to the rest of the country). If you are interesting in shark fishing, we have a large population in the lake. We also have a lot of stingrays so be careful. KC, you will be glad you moved here. Where are you from? If I can help you, just post here. Good luck and tight line. Wayne
