Cast out a couple of times and noticed that I wasn’t reaching max distance. Took a look and noticed that my line was getting stopped in a scratch at the top of my reel. Any good fixes for this? I have a file and was considering filing it down, but thought I would ask here first. Thanks in advance

I would contact the real manufacturer and see if the trouble sum part can be replaced. It may be a small sum and the real would be as good as new. They may also be able to tell you how to repair it yourself. Some of those mew adhesives are pretty good these days.

Depends on what kind of material it is plastic aluminum Steel I would think you could use a really fine Wet sandpaper and just take your time and sand it smooth I had an issue similar on the spool of a spinning reel and I was able to fix it that way

Sounds to me like a damaged spool with that being said you can replace the spool on any reel by contacting the manufacturer and ordering a new one if it's not fixable

If it were me I'd use some really fine wet sand paper til it is smooth and follow up with some epoxy, and then some fine steel wool. If that fails, maybe a new part. What part is the problem???

Much depends on the material that is scratched. If it’s chromed you will have to replace the part as it can’t be satisfactorily smoothed down. Softer material even plastic can be polished out by finer and finer wet sand paper which comes in many grades. You’ll end up using 600 and finer. One trick is to use a rod of smooth material like glass or drill rod that is finely polished to rub out the scratch By flowing the adjacent material into the scratch. That works well on not too hard material.

More info needed: reel type, material, affected part?

Replace the reel part and then the line. Getting caught on scratched parts has probably knicked and weakened it.

I've used super glue and it was effective for something like that.
Tight line!

Clear nail polish works to eliminate nicks and rough spots that catch your line. Cheap and easy fix.

Send a picture if you can. Lots of advice here, but we don’t know the place or the material you are working with.
