So I have been a spinning reel guy and 2 years ago I purchased an Abua Garcia revo bait caster. Only use it for flipping docks. Tried it out with frogs and other top water. I back lash with small paddle tails and finesse. Tried out my buddies lefty reel and felt more natural.

So any way, I have $500 gift cards I’ve been saving up to basspro. Wondering what lefty reel you guys would recommend?

The shimano Curado and Diawa tatula caught my eye. I don’t think I could stomach the price of Diawa Steez.

If you're considering a Curado , and want to throw light stuff, I hear good things about the DC. The digital control is supposed to make throwing finesse stuff much easier. They run about $250, that leaves plenty for a nice rod.

I am in the same mind set as I use to have a Diawa Tatula and I loved it for pitching and flipping but one day it walked away without my permission? The Diawa Tatula works great for pitching but so does the Curado DC but the Tatula is cheaper and exept for the DC part of it the Tatula is a great pitching reel and it really comes down to how much $$$ you want to spend.

The Curado is an excellent choice. I have a Curado G and the DC. Either will work for light baits and bigger baits.

Choosing fishing equipment is a pretty personal choice! I like round level winds best but keep a Daiwa low profile around for small mouth ass. But I've caught plenty in the past on my ABU 5000. I have a really weak spot for ABU, I think they are the level wind all other's are compared to! I also have s Kastking Rover 40, really nice reel! Got a Daiwa Millionaire, not a bad thing to say about it, would get another in a heart beat. Shamino was an early one for me, a 100 and that was a super reel. I would be hard pressed these days to pick a best reel but it would probably be ABU because I've used them over 40yrs and love them, they don't seem to wear out! You can certainly fine a reel much more expensive but better is simply a matter of opinion! Love my ABU's.

I have the Curado DC. If you want a finesse reel follow Ben’s advice. The Aldebaran. The DC works best over 1/4 ounce IMO. I might have better luck matching it a lighter rod. Haven’t tried that yet.
