I have both. My kayak is definitely my go for fishing these days. Sure I can’t carry the gear in it like I could the boat. My life of fishing is much simpler and faster to get going now with the kayak. I can float rivers, lakes, and ponds now with ease. I would suggest a sit on top if you buy a yak. Happy Fishing 🎣
I love my lil 10' kayak. i can come and go by myself never worry bout gas or if my battery is charged..
Love fishing from my kayak. Easy to transport, put in and take out. Paid $159 For my field and stream Blade. A paddle and anchor brought the total to just under 250 and I was on the water. Added a couple rod holders and cleats for my anchor.
I Have a 14' Jon. Casting deck with a seat and under storage up front and a Coleman cooler live well in the mid back. I joined tiny boat nation on Facebook and subbed their videos on YouTube. Check them out for awesome ideas.I'm thinking of re-doing my live well and other mods also. It's A lot of fun doing your thing your way!
I have one of each. I find that my kayak is better for short fishing sessions, but my Jon boat is much better for hours on the lake. My boat is small enough (10') that it's easy to put in my pick up bed, no trailer needed, though it would be a bit easier to lug.
