Depends. SoCal salt can be fantastic.

Totally agree Spirit. Have also caught as many as 50+ fish in one day at some of the lakes. So, I think we hold our own

Yeah the problem down there is not the quality of the lakes or the fish, it's all the damn people. Too many folks all tryin to catch the same fish. Way more room on the briny!

Probably so, but really not an issue if you love fishing.

Yes... but Iโ€™m solely speaking of So Cal lakes! Inshore salt water is really good down here, Deep sea is great, and surf fishing can be stellar at times! That said, the lakes/reservoirs... not so hot! Iโ€™ve been fishing ( bass ) them frequently for the past 20+ years and have noticed a huge decline in numbers caught! By me & many other anglers ๐Ÿ˜ž๐ŸŽฃ

Fish Lake Cachuma, lake Piru, Pyramid Lake (good Striper), Castaic Lake (although Iโ€™ve never done well there)
Fish the Balboa bay for bay or calaico bass.
Donโ€™t even get me started on the eastern sierras or the Kern wild life refuge.
Great places in so cal.
Iโ€™ve been working in this state for most of the last 20 years. Even when I was in Palm Springs I found places to fish on my days off.
