pfd replacement advice

Hello.
I have a Night Cat PFD which saved my life last year. IT is ISO 12402-3. I contacted the firm and was supposedly shipped a replacement 2 CO2 cylinders and its activation valves.

I just went to add them to the device to use tomorrow. The cylinder screws in nicely and seems to match perfectly the original. The valve doesn't look like the original and it does not thread in. I tried to activate the new cylinder with the manual cord. It was disconcerting when I was not sent the proper valve. When the co2 cartridge did not work when I pulled the manual cord, I really freaked out. I looked on the Internet and can seemingly get no real person to give me some correct information. Does anybody have some serious insight into this matter. WE are in the Rockies and access is an issue, especially during these times of Covid crisis.

I sincerely wish you luck.
I’ve had a heck of a time rearming PFDs myself

Gene, feel your pain... I bought one off Wish. Looked at it when it arrived but not real close. Now 6 months later, I got it out to use kayaking in Yuma AZ...no cartridge. Checked all the sports stores in Yuma, no one had a CO2 cartridge to fit. Think I might have found one on Amazon, but we are traveling in RV for next month...have to wait until I get home (Colorado Springs CO) in April. You might check Amazon.

I would be contacting whoever sent you the wrong device. There is many auto/manual PFDs. The Manufacturer should have a customer service department.

Make sure it functions. I have a Mustang. I think its 20-60 bucks for replacement once it is activated.

Folks,

Its good to know I am not the only one with this issue. Yes, the manufacturer SHOULD have a customer service department.

Thanks, so far.

Gene

I gave up looking for the correct replacement part. They keep changing the activation units. I bought a new solid sailing life vest. Comfortable and guaranteed to work if needed. It is light enough to wear in 80+ degree weather. It is not quite as light as my inflatable, but I am alive to tell you that.
