I'm an FFF or Fly Fishing Fanatic. Together with Terry and Wendy Gunn, I wrote 50 Best Tailwaters to Fly Fish and then 25 Best National Parks to Fly Fish. Independently, I have written for most of the major fly-fishing publications. While I haven't caught every species on a fly, I've certainly put a dent in the list from albacore to wahoo. I almost always fish with barbless hooks (yes, I even caught the wahoo barbless) unless circumstances simply don't allow it.

I have fished in Alaska about 25 times, Argentina, Chile, Canada, destinations in Mexico from Ensenada to Cabo San Lucas perhaps 100 times, and Ireland. Amazing, I loved Ireland even though I got skunked there and have still to catch an Atlantic salmon.

It all started on Cedarbrook Park lake in Plainfield, New Jersey, a long, long time ago. But that's another tale to tell.

Ask me anything about fly fishing, tackle or locations. If I don't know the answer I will simply tell you I don't know. If you'd like to get started with the "long rod" be sure to visit the closest of the seven Fly Fishing Shows that will cross the U.S. beginning in January.

Welcome to the Forum, Shane. Good question, I like the window before high tide and shortly there after. I feel the water must be moving in order to move the bait around. (MHO)
