My first hunting memory was sitting in the duck skiff with my Dad as we retrieved a Drake Mallard he shot. I was 3 or 4 and I was mesmerized by the colors of the feathers on that green head which turned purple and blue as I turned it in the sun, the orange feet and yellow bill plus the blue patches on the wings. I was hooked. I shot my first duck at 10, a blue-winged teal with my Dad’s Browning A5 Sweet 16 gauge.
