Just purchased a 2016 NauticStar 20XS and am taking my first trip out Saturday morning. Going to head to Catalina island and hope to have live squid in the tanks. Looking for White SeaBass, yellowtail and if I'm lucky, a halibut. Can't wait....

Very nice boat, you could have fooled me that it’s 5 years old. Looks brandy new, just love CC’s for ocean fishing.

Nice looking ride, good luck with it!

Yes listen to their advice but, if that is a 2016 Yammi with 250 hours, keep up with maintenance and it will do you right for many years to come. And don't neglect your lower unit! Doesn't do any good to have a running motor and no way to turn the prop!

That's the overhead electronics box Spirit. Most T-tops have them. Usually for VHF Radio, GPS, Sometimes a second depthfinder (Digital). Its actually easier to see many screens and readouts in the shade of the top, rather than the bright sunlight.
Also more protection from salt spray,.

I would recommend you subscribe to Seatow, or another competitve towing service. If you don't have any backup power, or motor, you are taking a big risk. Just Sayin...RJS

I have SeaTow RJ. Wouldn't leave port without it. Also have satellite radio with an emergency CG call button. Hope I never have to use it.

Beautiful Boat. Back up power is good. The 250 Hour Outboard may run a longtime. The idea of spare power is in case starter or starter relay fails. A perfectly brand new Outboard or Inboard will do nothing if the starter fails. Good Luck and stay safe. A kicker is also good for trolling etc.

Really, Really, nice boat!!! Congrats. Wish I was going with you. It’s still winter here in New Jersey. And there’s really not a lot of fish around right now. I hope you get some nice fish while getting to know the new boat. Be safe , have fun good luck.

Beautiful boat MJ, low hrs and well equipped. Have a blast with her, but be safe at all times.

Great! All your back up power, towing insurance just means you probably won't need it. Just Sayin...RJS

It's not quiet as important on most fresh water lakes. But if you are goin out in the open ocean where a dead motor could mean REAL trouble it's something to think about.
If you are left dead in the water no tellin where or how far you will drift with the current by the time help might arrive. Not to mention you are at the mercy of the waves which usually want to come at you broadside.
I'm the last person that wants to throw a damper on someone's fishin trip. I myself don't have a kicker motor, just a trollin motor I use bass fishin. However, I don't take my boat out in the ocean either.
